The Company
Inspired by the rich mining history of our neighborhood and a penchant for hard-working, hands-on design, Coalmine staked claim in 2001. Since then we have been dedicated to providing clients and creative teams with inspired ideas and impeccable production in a wide range of design disciplines usually found only in large agencies.
Leadership
Our primary canary, Renae Bair Dekker, began her career in New York City after graduating cum laude with a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Washington. During this eight-year adventure, she worked for several top firms including CBS Entertainment, Richard Danne & Associates and Pentagram—designing annual reports and print collateral for companies such as DuPont, Drexel Burnham Lambert, Hilton International and Fashion Institute of Technology.
Returning to her roots in the Northwest, she continued building brands for AT&T, Plum Creek Timber Company and US Bancorp at Methodologie. Her experience then gained a third dimension at Maestri where she was on the creative team directing placemaking and environmental graphic design for several retail mixed-use projects including Santana Row in San Jose.
Always on the hunt for the perfect font—Renae's passion is type. She is a member of AIGA and SEGD.
